Madrid Jazz Festival is celebrating its 25th
anniversary by organising a total of fifteen concerts at Teatro Fernán
Gómez and two at Teatro Real (Opera House), as well as those performed
on other stages as part of this year's festival: Joy Eslava club,
Centro Cultural Nicolás Salmerón, and over 20 clubs that belong to La
Noche en Vivo association for live music clubs.
Of the great masters of European painting, Rembrandt is one of the least well represented in the Museo del Prado, which has only one work by his hand, the Artemisia (1634). For this reason, the Museum has decided to organise an exhibition that will allow the public to see more of the work of this remarkable artist. It includes around 30 paintings and five prints loaned from leading European and American museums and will focus on the subject of Rembrandt as a narrative painter.
The exhibition features works from all the periods in Rembrandt’s career. In his early paintings, the gestures of the human figures are extroverted and their gaze is often mocking and jocular. In his mature works, the emotions are more suppressed and the emphasis is on their mental energy.
Madrid´s cultural and leisure activities are ideal for visitors to
practice their Spanish at any time of day. You can often find students
visiting museums and art centres on guided tours in Spanish and see
groups of foreigners congregating at indoor and outdoor cafés to speak
the language of Cervantes.
An exquisite programme to arouse the audience's artistic curiosity.
That was the purpose set by the organisers when it started out. This
year, between October 13 and November 16, the festival will be staging its 25th
edition. This long-awaited cultural event continues to promote the same
objective, and this year with a view to commemorating its special
anniversary, it will be presenting 44 shows, 36 of which are from 13
different countries, from Brazil to Japan to the United Kingdom.
