Madrid means Christmas. In December, the city sheds its regular look and dons its best smile, as every corner of the capital fills up with bright lights, shows, music, markets and a whole range of surprises. This festive season is best enjoyed on the streets.

A pyrotechnic show visiting the four seasons will officially kick off the most long-awaited festivities of the year: the Christmas celebrations. On Thursday December 17, the English company The World Famous will present in Plaza de Oriente (8 pm) the Night of Fire which will conjure up magical moments, like the arrival of the gold and silver-clad Snow Queen and the reading of the winning tale from the Madrid school Christmas story competition.
