ARCOmadrid is celebrating its thirtieth birthday. Three decades over which the International Contemporary Art Fair has become the nuclear event for the Spanish art market, while at once widely recognised as one of the key annual dates on the international art circuit.
Thirty years working wholeheartedly in support of contemporary art; thirty years in which ARCOmadrid has given an extraordinary boost to Spain's image within the larger art world and played an absolutely crucial role in the country's art and culture, marking a before-and-after in its contemporary art market.
Throughout this period ARCOmadrid has carved out a unique space, forging a name for itself as a pioneer in many fields, such as its Experts Forum on collecting or bringing on board freelance advisors to select galleries in its curated sections, besides gaining a reputation as a groundbreaking fair in the introduction of young galleries with new artists and risk-taking works. Equally pivotal in its image is its role as a bridge between Latin America and Europe, making it a two-way springboard between both markets, plus its proactive stance in fostering corporate and private collecting.
An extensive programme of acts and events will commemorate the fair's thirtieth edition, also celebrated in a photographic exhibition surveying ARCOmadrid's three exciting decades.
