Teatro Real presents an English version of this opera by Kurt Weill and Bertolt Brecht, with stage design by Alex Ollé and Carles Padrissa (La Fura dels Baus). Eighty years after its original premiere, its raw criticism of capitalism and dehumanization hasn't lost any of its relevance. On this occasion it is directed by Pablo Heras-Casado, with an outstanding performance by the veteran artists Willard White and Christopher Ventris as well as the young Measha Brueggergosman. As a novelty, this premiere of The Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny will be broadcast for over 120 cinemas across Europe and Mexico (performances on September 30 and October 2, 3, 5, 6, 8, 9, 11, 12, 14, 16 and 17).
